Harry Asche

Design Director – Tunnels – Aurecon

Harry Asche is a civil engineer with 45 years of experience. He has a BE(Civil) from the University of Melbourne and a PhD from the University of Queensland. He is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Queensland and is the immediate Past President of the ATS.

Harry is a Design Director at Aurecon. He has worked on a variety of civil engineering and tunnel projects. These include the UK Channel Tunnel, the Brisbane Inner City Rail Tunnels, the Airport Rail Link Tunnels in Sydney, the Brisbane South East Transit Project, Melbourne’s EastLink Project, and the Clem7 and Airport Link tunnels in Brisbane. Recent projects include the West Gate Tunnel Project in Melbourne, Central Kowloon Route and the Sha Tin caverns in Hong Kong, WestConnex 2 and the Western Harbour Tunnel in Sydney. He is currently working on the Borumba Pumped Hydro project in Queensland.

Harry is Chairing the ATS Short Course. He will be:

  • Giving the Welcome Address and Acknowledgement of Country on Wednesday 27 November at 8:30am
  • Presenting on Groundwater and Hydrogeology on Wednesday 27 November at 2:55pm.

The ATS Short Course 2024 is a multi-day event, designed to provide an introduction to the world of tunnels, being held in Brisbane 27-29 November. Event content will closely align with the latest edition of the ATS Tunnel Design Guideline and is a must for tunnelling professionals.

The course is delivered by experienced professionals from Australian tunnelling who have specialist knowledge in their discipline field.
