Event Summary
The ATS Young Members invites all students and young professionals (35 years of age or under) on a site visit to the Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) Stage 2 works, on Monday, 2 December 2024.

The site visit will include a brief presentation on the WHT project followed by a guided tour of the Cammeray ventilation tunnels and Falcon Street decline tunnel.

Project background
Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will be a 6.5 kilometre road tunnel connecting the Rozelle Interchange to the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney and crossing underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton. The project is being delivered in two stages. Stage 2 includes connections from Stage 1 at Cove Street in Birchgrove, underneath Sydney Harbour to the Warringah Freeway in North Sydney, and complete tunnel fit-out.

Tunnel excavation is currently progressing below the Warringah Freeway towards Ridge Street in North Sydney. Additional roadheaders will continue excavating the mainline tunnels beneath Waverton towards Sydney Harbour.

Please note that this is a registration to enter the draw for the site visit due to the limited number of attendees permitted, it does not guarantee a place on the site visit itself. Successful registrants will be notified of their selection via email/calendar invite after the draw has taken place.

Minimum Requirements for Site Visit

• Attendees must be 35 years of age or under.
• Long trousers, long sleeve shirt and safety boots.
• Hard hats and safety glasses if you have them, otherwise these will be provided.
• Dust masks must be worn underground and everyone will need to be clean shaven to enter the tunnel (non-negotiable). If unable to shave for religious or other reasons, please advise on successful selection as there are other options.
